Gardens of Wales and Merseyside With Marty Wingate June 4th to June 15th, 2019
- Wednesday, June 5 th
- Arrive in Manchester. Gather group and depart from the airport to Chester at 1:00 PM
Stop at Bluebell Cottage Nursery. (19 miles, 25 minutes).
We'll have tea and a tour of the garden for about 90
minutes. At 3:30 we depart for the hotel in Chester with an
expected arrival at 4:00. You're free to explore Chester this
afternoon. We'll meet for a welcome pint at 6:30, followed
by dinner nearby at 7:00. Overnight Chester (TD)
- Thursday, June 6 th
- We've two gardens on the calendar today. We'll start the day at Stonyford Cottage Gardens with a tour and free time,
followed by lunch in the café. We'll stop next at Abbeywood Gardens for an early afternoon tour that will allow time to return to Chester for a walking tour of the Roman and Medieval town. Overnight Chester (BL)

We cross the border to Wales today, on our way to our base for
the next two nights, Welshpool. En-route, we'll stop to tour the
National Trust site of Erddig Hall. Sitting on a dramatic
escarpment above the winding Clywedog river, Erddig tells the
250-year story of a gentry family's relationship with its servants.
In the afternoon, we visit the private garden Edge Villa in
Shropshire before arriving in Welshpool in the late afternoon.
Dinner will be close to the hotel at 7:00 this evening. Overnight

Saturday, June 8 th- We'll visit the Castle and Garden at Powis Castle this morning. After our visit, we'll have a break for lunch before traveling to our afternoon visit, the gardens at Glansevern Hall. Overnight Welshpool (B)

Portmeirion
We're traveling to the Northwest part of Wales
this morning. We'll stop for lunch in the Italianate village of Portmeirion. After lunch, we will
have a tour at Plas Brondanw Gardens. From there, we'll enjoy a scenic ride through
Snowdonia National Park by steam train from Porthmadog to our hotel in Conwy. Dinner near the hotel this evening. Overnight Conwy (BLD)
- Monday, June 10 th
We'll leave just after breakfast with a short
drive to Llanberis, the terminus for the
narrow-gauge rack-in-pinion railway that
takes you on a 2.5 hour round trip journey
to the highest point in Wales (and the
British Isles outside Scotland). We'll have
time for photos on the summit before
returning to Llanberis. We next visit the

- Tuesday, June 11 th

Visit to Anglesey Island today with two garden visits. The first visit is and NGS Garden called
Llanidan Hall. (two choices for an afternoon visit. You decide. Our afternoon visit is the
National Trust Garden of Plas Newydd. Overnight Conwy (B)
Wednesday, June 12 th-
Traveling to Liverpool this morning. We make a
morning stop at the garden and Arts and Crafts
house at Pensychnant, with a later visit to the
gardens at Trafford Hall just before arriving at
our hotel in Liverpool. Overnight Liverpool (BD)
- Thursday, June 13 th

We've dedicated today to Liverpool and the Fab Four. We'll have a guide join us for a
complete Beatles Tour. In the afternoon, after we take the ferry cross the Mersey, you'll have
time to see the waterfront with options for the Beatles or Titanic Museum. Overnight

Friday, June 14 th-
We're visiting the Tudor House at the National Trust site of
Rufford Old Hall. It makes sense to enjoy lunch at the Hall's
Victoria Tea Room before we continue on to The Ridges, a
private garden about an hour from the center of Liverpool.

We're departing our Liverpool hotel early this morning for a
short driver to Manchester Airport in time to make mid-
morning flights home. (B)
Price is $4200 per person, based on double occupancy.
Single supplement is $800 and is limited to 4 single rooms
Group is limited to 16 participants and includes:

Initial deposit due is $1500 per person. Balance is due January 31 st , 2019. Airfare is not
included, but assistance will be provided to book flights to meet the group in Manchester.
