Huskies at LSU: Air Travel

You will make your reservations directly with the airlines using the contact information and discount codes I have provided below. I have contracted for discounts with three airlines for fans traveling to the game on any of the dates of September 3-12, 2012. Each airline has its own reservation procedure and these are outlined below. Airline discounts are available to Husky Fans whether or not you book the events package or the group hotel.

Please note that the TSA requires personal information for each passenger. In order to make reservations, be prepared to give the full name as it appears on official ID, date of birth, and gender. The airline or agency cannot complete a reservation without these details.

Make your air travel arrangements as soon as possible. At the time of this writing, airfares were in the $350-$380 range. Make your airline reservations and purchase tickets first as this is the variable in the price of your package. If you use a travel agency to book your air flights, they can use these codes as well.

If you are finding higher airfare than expected for return flights on Sunday, you will likely find lower fares to fly from New Orleans on Monday or even Tuesday.

United/Continental Airlines 1 800 521 4041 Offer Code: ZM72755752

United and Continental have effectively completed their merger. Attempts to access Continental Airlines online result in the United Airlines site. Guests booking for Continental or United schedules will now book online at United.com. Enter your dates and destination and the offer code in the box for 5% off the lowest published fares. Valid dates are September 4th through the 13th. If you book by phone at the number above or at 1 800 468 7022, the airline may impose a booking fee of $25 per ticket.

Delta Airlines www.delta.com/booking Code: NM8JU

Delta offers discounts of 5% for travel from originating in non-hub cities. Hub Cities include MEM, DTW, MSP, SLC, ATL. If your travel originates from these cities, your discount drops to 2%. Delta’s reservation process is will recognize the code and assign the correct fare. Enter the code in the box marked “meeting event code”. Discounts are available from September 2nd through September 15th.

American Airlines www.AA.com/groups Code: 3292BF

This American option provides a 5% discount off of published fares for group members. Reservations and Ticketing may be done online only with the above web address at the AA Groups site. Be sure to enter this code to get your rates. Discounted travel dates are from September 1st through the 16th.

Other Carriers

Southwest also flies to New Orleans. They have traditionally been lower-cost options but I found their flights to be about the same as the major carriers. Southwest is the only airline named that is currently not charging for checked bags.

Airport transportation

You do not want a car in New Orleans. Parking is very expensive at $35 per night. I recommend taking the scheduled airport transportation company from the airport to the hotel. A taxi will cost $33 from the airport to the hotel for one or two people. Three or more in a cab is $14 per person. The official airport shuttle company charges $20 one way or $38 round trip per person. This package includes transportation at the cost of $14 per person each way.
